Looking for quokkas on Rottnest Island, swimming in the Indian Ocean at Cottesloe or having a coffee on the cappuccino strip... urban Western Australia has plenty of thin
Perth and Fremantle are the big urban centres of Western Australia, and there are plenty of activities and things to do there that can keep tourists occupied. These include a tour of the world’s fastest cricket ground, swimming in the Indian Ocean at Cottesloe Beach, tasting many different beers in Australia’s best pubs and cruising down the Swan River.
Perth itself is the world’s most isolated capital city, although you’d never guess it while you were there, as it’s a teeming modern metropolis with over a million inhabitants. Fremantle is effectively a suburb of Perth, although it is a city in its own right, and has a much more laid back vibe. In fact, a recent poll by Australian Traveller magazine voted it the best place in Australia.
